</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #a64d79; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;">Another treasure from the "Vintage" series. Comedy in the 90's crossed a certain number of limits. Les Deschiens proved it. True aliens in the comedy scene, they embodied frankly bizarre, sometimes disturbing, characters. The minimalist sets consisted in a table and a coloured background. Their characters showed very little brightness and made fun of particular French-speaking areas (such as then North of France or Belgium). The most memorable moments of this series undoubtedly remain the Morel family reunions at the table, where the appalled and constantly disappointed parents would repeatedly insult, beat up or embarass their only son.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #a64d79; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br />

<br />
<br />
</span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; color: #674ea7;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; color: #674ea7;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/YWEIxzlKCgA?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; color: #674ea7;"><br />
</span></div><div class="MsoNormal"></div><a name='more'></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; color: #674ea7;"><br />
</span><br />

</div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Nothing is simple when one chooses to become a monk in a muslim country that is politically, religiously and culturally torn apart. However, brother Luc and his fellow monks make us want to believe that, by being sensible, humble and faithful, we can overcome decades of violence and conflicts of interests. Slightly naive, perhaps. But it is also a proof of an unbounded belief. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The message here, if anyone will hear it, transcends faith itself eventually. For it asks us not to hastily label others permanently. It makes us look further into the individual, so that one never stigmatizes a whole population who are very often the victims of the powerful institutions in place (whether they are terrorist ones or institutional ones). A painful evil (for it is based on a true story) but a necessary one to keep on slightly opening our minds.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This topic feels close to my life in France but seeing this film when on the other side of the planet (in Taiwan where I am now) rings differently. I wonder how non-French people perceive these events and the way the French characters of the film behave… Feel free to leave comments and opinions about the film.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #674ea7; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
